This is an exceptional pre-World War II Colt SAA, manufactured in 1924. The included factory letter lists this revolver as having a 5 1/2-inch barrel in .45 caliber, a blue finish, and unspecified stocks when sold to Morgan White (address unavailable) and shipped to Bronson & Townsend Co., New Haven, Connecticut, on July 26, 1924. The barrel is marked with the one-line Hartford address on top and "45 COLT" on the left side. The left side of the frame is marked with the two-line patent dates following an uncircled Rampant Colt. The left side of the trigger guard features the number "3" and the Colt triangle proof mark. It is fitted with its original checkered hard rubber grips with the Colt Rampant Horse in an oval at the top of each grip. Matching serial numbers are found on the frame, rear cylinder face (28), right side of the trigger guard, back strap, and both grip panels. The assembly number "1148" is displayed on the loading gate and the rear of the frame. Comes with the Colt black box numbered to the gun, "Special Instructions," and bore brush.
